I was invited to the opening of “All the World’s Futures”, the International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia on 6, 7 and 8 May 2015, and spent the three days in intense solo visits as well as fun and illuminating times with my dear friend and amazing artist Tiffany Chung, who was part of this year’s exhibition in the Central Pavilion at the Arsenale, curated by Okwui Enwezor.

Throughout the three days, I pondered, wondered, wooed and wowed, as well as was left questioning the presence of some of the artwork, but all in all I was extremely pleased with what I managed to see. Three days wading through the increasing crowds of VIPs and the unexpected children groups were not enough to see everything in either the Arsenale or the Giardini. Not to mention the plethora of off-site pavilions, collateral exhibitions and satellite events taking place around Venice, not only on the main island, but on some small ones reachable only by the famed vaporetto.

I had to concentrate my efforts as well to visit some pavilions that I knew I would definitely want to include in my Art Radar Asia article on 10 national highlights. One of my highlights was also meeting and talking with Singaporean artist Charles Lim and the curator of the Singapore Pavilion “SEA STATE”, Shabbir Hussain Mustafa, whom I both interviewed later for Art Radar to find out more about the intense research behind their project at the Biennale.

Nonetheless, even if time was not enough to see everything, I took many shots of the exhibits, returned to take more of some of them and will do so in coming days, once I manage to return to Venice and stroll around the calli, reaching some of the pavilions, collaterals and surprise exhibitions I missed and seeing more at the main locations.

Here is a taste of what I’ve seen so far at the Giardini, and of what you, if you get to go to Venice, should also look out for!

[Check back later for more photographs from the Giardini and more posts on other locations of the Biennale].
